Mustangs Shine During Busy February Stretch
February 18, 2026
Delta's women's wrestling team has had a strong and busy stretch over the past few weeks.
On February 7, 2026, the Mustangs competed at the Cerritos Open, a highly competitive tournament that featured 180 athletes from junior colleges, club programs, NAIA schools, and Division II institutions. Kayleen Tuavao led the way with a second-place finish. Zoey Ridenour placed fourth, while Perla Camacho Meza and Alejandro Ochoa each earned top-eight finishes. As a team, Delta placed 11th out of 18 teams.
The Lady Mustangs were back in action on February 14, 2026, at the Sacramento City Invite. Tuavao claimed the individual title, and Ochoa finished fourth. The team again placed 11th, this time out of 19 teams. Both Tuavao and Ochoa advanced to the semifinals in the same weight class and appeared on track to meet in the finals, but Ochoa fell in a hard-fought semifinal match.
The team will take a short break before returning to competition at the 3C2A State Dual Championships at Fresno City College on March 7, 2026.
